The TRU-MAXX 66253255482 is a Type 1 surface grinding wheel designed for precision flat and surface grinding operations on ferrous metals and tool steels. Constructed from aluminum oxide abrasive with a vitrified bond, this wheel delivers consistent stock removal and a fine surface finish. It measures 7 inches in diameter, 1/4 inch thick, and carries a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole for secure mounting. The 100 grit, K hardness rating places it in the medium-hard range, making it well-suited for applications where controlled material removal and wheel longevity are both priorities. The wheel is white in color and semi-friable, meaning it self-dresses at a moderate rate to maintain a sharp cutting face throughout use.
This wheel is intended for use on surface grinders in machine shops, toolrooms, and maintenance environments. The Type 1 straight-wheel configuration fits standard surface grinder spindles and accommodates a wide range of ferrous workpiece materials. The fine 100 grit finish makes it a practical choice for finish grinding passes, deburring hardened steel, and reconditioning flat surfaces on tooling and fixtures. It is typically installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians working with bench or pedestal surface grinders rated for wheels up to 3600 RPM.
Designed as a standard Type 1 replacement grinding wheel for surface grinders equipped with a 1-1/4 inch arbor and capable of accepting a 7 inch diameter wheel at up to 3600 RPM.
Surface grinding wheels must be installed and dressed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with abrasive wheel safety procedures. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing any wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and perform a ring test to confirm integrity. Always verify that the machine spindle speed does not exceed the 3600 RPM maximum rating stamped on or associated with this wheel, in accordance with ANSI B11.9 and applicable OSHA abrasive wheel standards.
