The TRIUMPH TWIST DRILL 094160 is a reduced shank twist drill bit built for boring large-diameter holes in metal, wood, and composite materials. The bit features a 15/16 inch (0.9375 inch) cutting diameter paired with a 1/2 inch Weldon shank, allowing it to seat in standard 1/2 inch chucks without requiring a larger chuck capacity. High speed steel construction provides the hardness and heat resistance needed for sustained drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. A 118-degree split point angle reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust required to start the cut. The coated finish adds surface hardness and helps shed heat at the cutting edge.
This bit is suited for metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance trades where a large-diameter hole is needed but the available drill press or handheld drill is limited to a 1/2 inch chuck. The reduced shank design makes it a practical option when a full 15/16 inch shank setup is not available on the floor. It is used in sheet metal shops, HVAC fabrication, plumbing rough-in, and general mechanical assembly where hole sizes in the 15/16 inch range are common. The right-hand spiral fluting clears chips efficiently during through-hole drilling operations.
Designed for use in drill presses and handheld drills fitted with a 1/2 inch Weldon-style chuck or end mill holder. The reduced shank configuration makes this bit compatible with standard 1/2 inch capacity chucks when drilling holes requiring a 15/16 inch diameter.
Secure the Weldon shank fully into the chuck or holder so that the set screw engages one of the three flats before drilling. Ensure the workpiece is clamped securely before beginning the cut, especially when breaking through on through-hole operations. Use appropriate cutting fluid for drilling in steel or hardened materials to extend tool life and manage heat. Inspect the split point for chipping or wear before each use and replace the bit if the cutting edges show signs of dulling.
