The TRIUMPH TWIST DRILL 094147 is a reduced shank twist drill bit designed for drilling applications that require a larger bit diameter than a standard shank can accommodate. This bit has a 47/64 inch (0.7344 inch) cutting diameter with a 1/2 inch Weldon shank, allowing it to be used in chucks that would not otherwise accept a full-diameter shank. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, it delivers durability across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 118-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust required to start the hole. Overall length is 6 inches, with a maximum drilling depth of 3 inches.
This bit fits trades that regularly drill oversized holes with standard 1/2 inch chucks or drill presses, including metalworkers, pipefitters, electricians, and HVAC technicians drilling through structural members, panels, or enclosures. The Weldon shank with 3 flats provides a positive, non-slip engagement in set-screw style tool holders, making it well suited for production drilling and repetitive work where bit slippage is a concern. The right-hand, spiral flute design with regular spiral type clears chips efficiently during through-hole drilling.
Designed for use in 1/2 inch capacity drill chucks, drill presses, and Weldon-style set-screw tool holders. Part of the TRIUMPH TWIST DRILL T9FHD series of reduced shank drill bits.
Installation and use of this bit is performed by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and other trades using drill presses or hand-held drilling equipment. Secure the Weldon shank fully in the set-screw holder and tighten the set screw against one of the three flats before drilling. Always power down and lock out the drilling machine before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant as required by the workpiece material, noting that this bit does not have through-coolant capability.
