The TRIUMPH TWIST DRILL 092132 is a reduced shank drill bit designed for drilling into ferrous metals and hard alloys in demanding shop and field environments. The bit features a 1/2-inch cutting diameter paired with a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to fit standard 3/8-inch chucks without requiring a larger chuck capacity. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces walking on contact and lowers the thrust force needed to start the hole. Constructed from high speed steel with a coated finish, this T8HD series bit is built for repeat use in production and maintenance drilling applications where tool life and hole quality matter.
This bit is suited for both shop and on-site use by machinists, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and general maintenance trades. The 6-inch overall length and 4.5-inch maximum drilling depth make it practical for through-hole work in structural steel, pipe flanges, enclosure panels, and similar assemblies. Rated for use in carbon steel, cast iron, high alloy steel, stainless steel, high tensile strength alloy, and tough alloy materials, it covers a broad range of common trade workpieces.
Compatible with 3/8-inch capacity drill chucks and drilling equipment accepting straight-cylindrical shanks. Rated for use in carbon steel, cast iron, high alloy steel, high tensile strength alloy, stainless steel, steel, and tough alloy workpieces. Part of the TRIUMPH TWIST DRILL T8HD series.
Install and remove drill bits only with the drill or press powered down and the chuck fully stopped. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck and verify the bit runs true before engaging the workpiece. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or hard alloys to extend tool life, even though the bit itself is rated for dry operation. Follow shop safety practices including eye protection and secure workpiece clamping.
