The TRIUMPH TWIST DRILL 012711 is a jobber-length twist drill bit sized at Letter K (0.2810 inches decimal equivalent) and built from M7 high speed steel with a gold oxide finish. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces walking and cutting force on entry, making it well suited for production and repetitive drilling tasks. The web-thinned, tapered web design improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust load. Right-hand spiral fluting with a regular helix handles chip clearing in a range of ferrous workpiece materials. This bit is installed and used by machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians across industrial and commercial job sites.
The 012711 is designed for drilling alloy steel, carbon steel, and general alloy materials where a heavy-duty, high-performance drill bit is required. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw drill chucks on benchtop drill presses, magnetic drills, and handheld power drills. The split-point tip is self-centering, which eliminates the need for a center punch on most flat surfaces. The gold oxide coating provides mild lubricity and corrosion resistance during storage and use. With a flute length of 2-15/16 inches and an overall length of 4-1/4 inches, this bit handles typical through-hole and blind-hole jobber-length applications.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber-length drill bit for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks accepting a 0.2810-inch straight-cylindrical shank; suitable for drilling alloy steel, alloy, and carbon steel workpieces in industrial and maintenance applications.
Install in a properly sized drill chuck and tighten securely before operation. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent rotation during drilling. Apply cutting fluid or coolant when drilling harder alloy steels to extend bit life and maintain dimensional accuracy. Inspect the cutting edges and split point for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if edge integrity is compromised.
