The TRIUMPH TWIST DRILL 011520 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in tough ferrous and alloy steel materials. Measuring 5/16 inches in diameter with a 4-1/2-inch overall length, this bit features a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact and reduces the need for a center punch. The gold oxide coating improves surface hardness and heat resistance during prolonged cuts. A right-hand spiral flute with a tapered web configuration evacuates chips efficiently and maintains cutting edge integrity through heavy-duty applications.
This drill bit is suited for metal fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and industrial job sites where drilling into alloy steel, carbon steel, and hardened ferrous materials is routine. The Series T1C designation indicates a straight-cylindrical shank compatible with standard drill chucks. With a flute length of 3-3/16 inches, it handles typical through-hole and blind-hole drilling in plate, structural steel, and machined components. It is most often used by machinists, millwrights, pipefitters, and maintenance mechanics who require consistent performance in hard material applications.
Designed for drilling alloy steel and alloy materials; rated as a heavy-duty bit in the 0.3000 to 0.3500 decimal inch drill bit size range. Compatible with any drill press, magnetic drill, or handheld drill driver equipped with a chuck sized for a 5/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit should be installed in a properly sized and tightened drill chuck before powering on the tool. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent rotation and injury. Apply cutting fluid when drilling hardened or stainless alloy steels to extend bit life and manage heat. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use; a damaged split point will reduce centering accuracy and increase the risk of bit breakage.
