The TRIUMPH TWIST DRILL 011505 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in tough materials. Built to Series T1C specifications, this bit features a 135-degree split point for self-centering starts without a center punch, reducing walking on hard surfaces. The gold oxide coating provides surface hardness and heat resistance during extended cuts. At 2 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length, this bit suits precision work in tight clearances. Licensed trades and industrial machinists reach for cobalt bits when drilling alloy steel, stainless, and other hardened workpiece materials where standard high-speed steel bits would dull prematurely.
The 011505 is rated for alloy and alloy steel workpieces and is well-suited to applications in fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and commercial construction settings. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw chucks on drill presses, hand drills, and CNC equipment. The right-hand cut spiral flute clears chips efficiently, reducing heat buildup during repeated drilling cycles. The tapered web configuration and web-thinned geometry reduce thrust requirements, which is especially useful when drilling small-diameter holes in hard stock without a pilot hole.
Designed for drilling alloy and alloy steel workpieces. Fits any standard three-jaw drill chuck accepting a 5/64-inch straight-cylindrical shank. No coolant-through capability; use external coolant or cutting fluid as needed for extended runs in hard material.
Secure the bit firmly in the chuck before operation and verify shank seating to prevent slippage. Allow the split point to self-center before applying full feed pressure. When drilling hard alloy steels, apply a suitable cutting fluid to reduce heat and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear after heavy use; cobalt bits can be resharpened but require a grinding wheel appropriate for cobalt-grade tooling.
