The TRIUMPH TWIST DRILL 011203 is a 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch decimal) high speed steel mechanics drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and hard materials. It features a straight-cylindrical shank, a standard 118-degree point angle, and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces entry force and improves chip evacuation. The oxide finish provides a base level of surface protection. At 1-3/4 inches overall length with a 3/4 inch flute length, this is a jobber-length bit suited for tight-clearance drilling tasks. Right-hand spiral flutes move chips out of the hole efficiently during use.
This bit is built for use on cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces in mechanical and fabrication applications. The T1B series designation places it in a standard jobber-length lineup commonly used by machinists, HVAC technicians, pipefitters, and maintenance mechanics. The 3/64 inch diameter is frequently used for pilot holes, sheet metal work, and precision drilling in light-gauge steel. The regular spiral type and general-purpose rating make it appropriate for benchtop drill presses and hand drills alike.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber-length mechanics drill bit suitable for use with standard 3-jaw drill chucks on hand drills, drill presses, and milling machines that accept straight-cylindrical shanks. Rated for primary workpiece materials including cast iron, stainless steel, and steel.
Install and remove drill bits only when the drill or press is fully powered down and the chuck is stationary. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck jaws before tightening to prevent slippage under load. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if the point shows visible wear or chipping.
