The TRIPP LITE N046-000 is a punch down installation tool designed for terminating low-voltage cabling at keystone jacks, patch panels, and other insulation displacement connector (IDC) blocks. It drives conductors into IDC terminals while simultaneously cutting the excess wire tail, saving time on high-volume termination jobs. Licensed electricians, low-voltage technicians, and structured cabling installers rely on this type of tool for data, voice, and security cabling work in both residential and commercial environments.
This tool is suited for terminating Cat5e, Cat6, and similar twisted-pair cable at 110-style and compatible IDC termination points. It is commonly used during initial installation of data outlets, patch panels, and telephone distribution blocks, as well as during moves, adds, and changes in structured wiring systems. The N046-000 is sold as a single unit, making it a straightforward addition to a low-voltage technician's kit.
Designed as an OEM-style punch down tool for use with 110-style IDC termination blocks, keystone jacks, and patch panels commonly found in structured low-voltage cabling installations.
Low-voltage technicians and licensed electricians should de-energize any active circuits in the work area before terminating conductors. This tool should be used in accordance with TIA/EIA structured cabling standards and local low-voltage codes. Inspect the blade regularly and replace it when terminations appear inconsistent or conductors are not fully seated.
