The Trane A5HP4042A1000 is a single-stage, split-system heat pump condenser from the RunTru by Trane product line. It delivers 42,000 BTU/h of heating and cooling capacity in a single outdoor unit, rated at 14.3 SEER2 for energy efficiency compliance under current federal standards. The unit operates on R-454B refrigerant, a lower-GWP alternative to R-410A, with an all-aluminum coil construction and 24-volt system control. Electrical supply is 208/230V, single-phase, 60 Hz. Running load amps are rated at 16.9 A with locked-rotor amps of 104.7 A. Licensed HVAC technicians install and service this equipment.
The A5HP4042A1000 is designed for residential split-system applications requiring year-round heating and cooling from a single outdoor condenser. At 3.5 nominal tons, it suits mid-size residential installations. The unit is factory charged with system refrigerant for the outdoor section plus ten feet of tested connecting line and the smallest rated indoor evaporative coil match. It is rated to operate at outdoor ambient temperatures up to 115 degrees F. This condenser must be matched with a compatible air handler or furnace coil that carries an AHRI rating with a TXV or EEV metering device. A companion air handler, such as the A5AHC007A1D30A, is commonly paired with this condenser in system configurations.
Designed for use in AHRI-rated split-system configurations with compatible air handlers and furnace coils equipped with a TXV or EEV metering device. A documented system pairing includes the A5AHC007A1D30A air handler. Consult the AHRI directory or RunTru submittal data to confirm rated matches before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician and comply with all applicable national, state, and local mechanical and electrical codes. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power to the system before beginning any service or installation work. Refrigerant handling requires EPA Section 608 certification; do not release R-454B to atmosphere. Review the RunTru Installation and Operation Manual for unit-specific wiring diagrams, startup procedures, and clearance requirements before commissioning.
