The Trane 5TMM5B0B36M31S is a 3-ton wall-mount air handler designed for split-system cooling and heat pump applications using R-454B refrigerant. It features a multi-speed CTM direct-drive blower motor rated at 1/2 hp and is built around a TXV flow control device. The cabinet measures 40.50 inches tall, 22.00 inches wide, and 18.75 inches deep, making it a compact, space-efficient unit. Licensed HVAC technicians install this air handler in residential and light-commercial settings where wall-mount placement is required or preferred.
This unit is suited for closet, utility room, alcove, and wall-mount installations in residential applications. It is compatible with A2L refrigerant systems using R-454B and is designed to pair with a matched outdoor condensing unit or heat pump. Optional electric heater kits in 5 kW, 7.5 kW, and 10 kW ratings are available as accessories. The front return opening measures 18.75 inches by 20.75 inches, the bottom return opening measures 20.00 inches by 7.50 inches, and the supply outlet measures 10.00 inches by 8.25 inches.

Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician and must comply with all applicable national, state, and local codes. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power before servicing or installing the unit. The liquid line connection uses a 3/8-inch braze fitting and the gas line braze size is 1.375 inches; all refrigerant connections must be made in accordance with EPA Section 608 requirements for A2L refrigerants. Verify that the installation space provides adequate clearances per the manufacturer installation guide before mounting.
