The TOOL-FLO 9BCD51KPR is a solid carbide diamond-shape boring insert from the Bantam Series, designed for precision internal boring operations in machine tool applications. Coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN) via a PVD process, the insert delivers improved surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. Key geometry specs include a 0.015-inch corner radius, a 15-degree relief angle, and a thickness of 0.040 inches. The screw-holding method provides secure clamping in compatible boring bar pockets. This insert is sized to the CDCD-51 standard and carries manufacturer grade GP4R, indicating its optimized geometry for cast iron workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install these inserts as part of routine tool change intervals.
The 9BCD51KPR is suited for internal diameter boring of cast iron components in both manual and CNC turning applications. Its diamond insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry appropriate for medium to finish-pass boring. The TiN PVD coating supports consistent tool life when running cast iron at recommended cutting parameters. The CDCD-51 insert style and screw-hold mounting make it a direct drop-in for Bantam Series boring bars and any compatible toolholders designed to accept CDCD-51 geometry inserts.
Designed for use in CDCD-51 boring bar pockets and toolholders within the Bantam Series system. Primary workpiece material compatibility is cast iron per manufacturer grade designation GP4R.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all power to the axis drives is off or the machine is in a safe tool-change state. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified for the clamping screw torque on the boring bar - follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specification for the screw size. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw threads for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
