The TOOL-FLO 96501616 is an indexable internal threading toolholder designed for precision thread cutting and grooving in bore applications. Built on the Flo-Lock series platform, this right-hand holder accepts FL 3L inserts secured by a clamp-style insert holding method. The shank measures 1 x 1 inch with an overall length of 12 inches, giving machinists adequate reach for deep-bore work. A minimum bore diameter of 1.375 inches defines the smallest bore this toolholder can service. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal control during continuous threading cycles. This tool is handled and installed by CNC machinists and tool-room technicians in production or job-shop environments.
The 96501616 is suited for internal threading and grooving operations on lathes and turning centers where a right-hand, straight-shank toolholder is required. The Flo-Lock series is engineered for rigid insert clamping, making it appropriate for both light finishing passes and heavier threading cycles in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The multi-use designation means this holder handles both threading and grooving insert geometries within compatible FL 3L insert families, reducing the number of dedicated holders needed at a turret station.
Designed for use with FL 3L series inserts. Compatible with CNC lathes and turning centers that accept a 1 x 1 inch square-shank internal toolholder. Toolholder style is A16.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop, spindle-off condition and all energy sources locked out per shop LOTO procedures. Confirm insert seating and clamp torque against the toolholder manufacturer specifications before initiating a cut. Verify bore clearance against the 1.375 inch minimum bore diameter before mounting. Coolant-through lines should be connected and flow confirmed prior to running threading cycles to prevent premature insert wear.
