The TOOL-FLO 93302020D is an indexable threading toolholder designed for external thread cutting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built in the FLSL series, this left-hand holder accepts FL 4L inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method. The shank measures 1-1/4 inches wide by 1-1/4 inches tall with an overall length of 6 inches, giving machinists a rigid, consistent platform for threading passes. It operates without through-coolant, relying on conventional flood or mist cooling at the cutting zone. Weighing 2.8 pounds, the holder is sized for mid-range turning applications where a square shank toolpost or block-style turret is in use.
This toolholder is suited for production and job-shop turning environments where external threading and grooving are performed on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The left-hand orientation is used when the tool must feed away from the chuck or when machine configuration requires cutting in the reverse direction. Its multi-use designation means a single holder can serve both threading and grooving insert styles within the FL 4L insert family, reducing tooling inventory on the machine.
Designed for use with FL 4L series inserts. Compatible with toolpost and turret setups accepting a 1-1/4 x 1-1/4 inch square shank. Suitable for both threading and grooving cutting applications per the FLSL toolholder series designation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a locked-out, energy-isolated state before handling the toolholder or changing inserts. Secure the shank fully within the toolpost or turret block to the depth required for proper overhang and rigidity. Confirm insert seating and clamp engagement before running test cuts. Follow the machine tool manufacturer's recommendations for tool offset entry and spindle speed for the specific insert grade and workpiece material.
