The TOOL-FLO 93301620D is an indexable threading toolholder designed for external threading and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLSL series specification, this left-hand toolholder accepts FL 4L inserts secured by a mechanical clamp. The shank measures 1 inch wide by 1 inch tall with a 6-inch shank length and a 6-inch overall length. Maximum depth of cut is 0.29 inches, and the back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension is 1.25 inches. No through-coolant port is included. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this holder in applications where left-hand external thread forms and groove profiles are required.
This toolholder is suited for external threading and grooving on metal workpieces in both production and job-shop turning environments. The left-hand orientation makes it appropriate for operations where the spindle rotation or feed direction requires a mirror configuration to a standard right-hand holder. The FLSL series is a multi-use platform, allowing a single holder to support both threading and grooving insert geometries without changing the body. Typical install scenarios include gang tooling setups, turret-mounted configurations on CNC turning centers, and manual lathe toolposts with appropriate adapter blocks.
Designed for use with FL 4L indexable inserts. The FLSL series toolholder body accepts external threading and grooving inserts in the FL 4L designation. Verify insert geometry and thread form before ordering inserts separately.
This toolholder is installed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with CNC or manual lathe setup procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing any toolholder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamped in the turret pocket or tool block before resuming operations. Confirm insert seating and clamping screw torque per the insert manufacturer specifications before taking a cut.
