The TOOL-FLO 64252J5R is a solid carbide profiling insert in the FLPR series, designed for profiling and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This right-hand insert features a parallelogram shape with a 55-degree included angle, a 0.031-inch corner radius, and a TiN PVD coating applied over a micrograin carbide substrate in manufacturer grade GP3R. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.342 inches and a positive rake geometry at 10 degrees, it is suited for precision material removal in high-performance turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible clamp-and-pin toolholders.
This insert is intended for use on non-ferrous metals and superalloys, making it a practical choice in aerospace, medical, and precision machining environments where tight tolerances and surface finish are critical. The FLPR series geometry supports both profiling and general turning passes, and the two cutting edges allow the insert to be indexed to extend service life. The PVD TiN coating reduces built-up edge on non-ferrous workpiece materials and helps maintain cutting edge integrity at elevated cutting speeds.
Designed as an OEM-style insert for FLPR series clamp-and-pin toolholders accepting a size-52 insert with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle. Conforms to standards designation FLPR-52 GP3R. Primary workpiece materials are non-ferrous metals and superalloys.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct clamp screw torque as specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten, as micrograin carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to edge chipping under excessive clamping force. Confirm proper seating in the pocket and verify tool offset data in the machine controller before resuming cuts.
