The TOOL-FLO 642505N4C is a solid carbide profiling insert designed for precision turning and profiling operations on steel workpieces. Part of the FLPR series, this parallelogram-shaped insert carries a GP50 carbide grade and a TiN coating applied via PVD process. It measures 0.375 inches in length, 0.25 inches in width, and 0.125 inches in thickness, with a 0.005-inch corner radius for tight-tolerance profiling. The positive rake geometry at 10 degrees and an 8-degree relief angle reduce cutting forces and improve surface finish on ferrous materials. Two cutting edges extend tool economy. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working on manual or automated lathes will find this insert suited to finish and semi-finish turning passes.
This insert is intended for profiling and turning applications on steel in both manual and CNC lathe setups. The FLPR series geometry accommodates contour turning where a 55-degree included angle is required. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.37 inches and an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches, it fits toolholders designed for FLPR-50.5 geometry. The right-hand orientation and clamp-or-pin holding method are standard for compatible FLPR toolholders. Common chipbreaker geometry makes it adaptable across a range of feed rates for finish and light roughing profiles.
Designed for use in FLPR-series toolholders accepting FLPR-50.5 insert geometry with clamp or pin retention. Compatible holding method requires a right-hand toolholder configured for FLPR-50.5 GP50C inserts per the FLPR-50.5 GP50C standard.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Disengage machine power and bring the spindle to a full stop before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and seating tools specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamp or pin. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatable tool geometry.
