The TOOL-FLO 641131FN4C is a solid carbide profiling and turning insert in the FLPL series, engineered for precision metal removal in steel machining applications. This parallelogram-shaped insert carries a GP50 manufacturer grade with a TiN coating applied via PVD process, delivering wear resistance and edge retention during profiling and turning operations. Key geometry includes a 10-degree rake angle, 8-degree relief angle, 0.015-inch corner radius, and a positive rake configuration. The insert holds two cutting edges, supports clamp or pin holding methods, and is left-hand oriented. It is sized at 3/8-inch inscribed circle with a 0.500-inch insert length. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this insert into compatible FLPL-series toolholders.
This insert is suited for profiling and turning operations on steel workpieces in production and jobshop environments, including contour turning, form profiling, and general-purpose lathe work. The GP50 carbide grade with TiN PVD coating performs across a range of cutting conditions common in steel machining. The left-hand designation determines toolholder orientation and must be matched accordingly at setup. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.534 inches and a positive rake geometry, this insert is well matched to moderate to aggressive material removal passes on steel.
Designed for use in FLPL-series toolholders accepting FLPL-131F geometry inserts. Primary workpiece material is steel. Insert style, hand orientation, and inscribed circle size must be verified against the toolholder specification before installation.
This insert should be installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with indexable insert tooling. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque on clamping screws per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm left-hand orientation and seating before resuming cuts, and inspect insert seats for wear or debris that could affect insert stability.
