The TOOL-FLO 6335125PRJ5R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLGD insert style in the Flo-Lock series, this right-hand insert features a 0.125-inch (3.18 mm) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.25 inches. The insert is manufactured from micrograin solid carbide and carries a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating applied via PVD process, improving surface hardness and wear resistance. A P-style chip breaker and a corner radius ranging from 0.005 to 0.010 inches round out the cutting geometry. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments install and index this insert during scheduled tooling maintenance.
This insert is suited for grooving and parting applications where a clamp-style insert holding method is required. The secondary workpiece material rating for stainless steel makes it a practical choice for shops running austenitic or ferritic grades alongside general-purpose materials. The single-end configuration and right-hand orientation dictate mounting position on compatible Flo-Lock toolholders. Typical applications include external grooving, undercut work, and shallow parting operations on bar stock and turned components in both short-run and production environments.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series clamp-style grooving toolholders accepting FLGD-3125 insert style in right-hand orientation. Consult the TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock toolholder compatibility chart to confirm correct holder pairing before ordering.
Installation of grooving inserts is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten the clamp screw, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Verify insert seating and edge orientation before returning the machine to operation.
