The TOOL-FLO 6335094PLAC50C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Flo-Lock series standard, it features an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating applied via PVD process, which extends tool life when cutting steel and other ferrous workpiece materials. The insert is left-hand orientation with a 0.094 inch cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 0.25 inches, and a neutral rake angle. It uses a clamp holding method and is a single-end, single-use insert with a CB chip breaker geometry. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this insert in compatible Flo-Lock grooving toolholders.
This insert is suited for grooving steel workpieces in production turning environments where consistent groove width, controlled chip evacuation, and coating durability are required. The AC50 manufacturer grade, combined with the AlTiN PVD coating, makes it appropriate for dry or light-coolant cutting conditions on carbon and alloy steels. The CB chip breaker geometry aids in chip control during moderate-depth grooving passes. It fits residential shop and industrial production turning applications alike, anywhere a reliable 0.094 inch groove width is needed in a left-hand configuration.
Designed for use in TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock series grooving toolholders that accept the FLGD insert style with a 0.375 inch gage diameter. ISO code reference: FLGD-3094L-CB.
This insert is installed and replaced by a machinist or toolroom technician on a CNC lathe or manual turning center. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Ensure the clamp and toolholder seat are clean and free of chips before securing the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excess clamp force.
