The TOOL-FLO 6335094PLAC3R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries an AC3 manufacturer grade with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating, delivering hardness and heat resistance suited to demanding interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert is left-hand oriented, with a 0.094-inch cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.18 inches. It seats in a clamp-style Flo-Lock toolholder and features a neutral rake angle with a chip breaker geometry (CB) for controlled chip evacuation in production turning environments. This insert is specified and installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians.
This insert is intended for grooving applications in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel. Its PVD-applied AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance that is well matched to the abrasive and work-hardening characteristics of stainless steel, as well as the abrasive nature of cast iron. The 0.005 to 0.010-inch corner radius range and 3-degree lead angle support clean groove geometry with minimal burr. It is a single-end, non-full-radius insert suited to production-volume grooving on moderate to tight-tolerance turned components.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series clamp-style toolholders accepting FLGD-style left-hand grooving inserts with a 0.375-inch gage diameter. ISO code FLGD-3094L-CB. Compatible workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metal, and stainless steel per manufacturer specification.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the toolholder must be clear of the workpiece before seating or removing the insert. Confirm the insert is fully seated against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seating pocket for chips or debris before each insert change to prevent rocking or premature edge failure.
