The TOOL-FLO 604600RAC3A is a carbide threading insert designed for both internal and external thread-cutting operations on CNC lathes and manual turning equipment. It carries the FLT insert style and is coated via a PVD process to the AC50 manufacturer grade, giving the cutting edge improved wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert covers an external pitch range of 4-20 TPI and an internal pitch range of 4-12 TPI, following the 60-degree V thread standard. The 0.255-inch thickness and a tip-to-top dimension of 0.128 inches keep the insert properly seated in compatible Flo-Lock toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in production and maintenance shops install this insert as a direct replacement when thread form quality or edge life degrades.
This insert is suited for threading operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials where a 60-degree V profile is required. The right-hand configuration makes it the standard choice for the majority of external and internal threading passes on conventional thread forms. The Flo-Lock series design ensures positive clamping and repeatable indexing, which is critical when threading to close pitch tolerances across medium to high production volumes. Shops running C2 and C3 material grades will find this insert appropriate for general-purpose threading at moderate cutting speeds.
Designed for use with TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock series threading toolholders that accept the FLT-4R insert style. Material grade compatibility includes C2 and C3 workpiece classifications for general-purpose threading applications.
This insert is installed by trained machinists or CNC tool-setup personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket is clean and free of chips before seating the new insert, as debris under the insert will affect thread geometry. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the clamping screw to avoid insert cracking or improper seating.
