The TOOL-FLO 594225RN4E is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Flo-Lock series, designed for precision external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a GP50 manufacturer grade and features a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating for improved wear resistance and surface finish. The insert is configured for right-hand cutting with a 0.25-inch (6.35 mm) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.25 inches (6.35 mm). The full-radius geometry and positive rake angle support clean chip formation and reduced cutting forces on a range of workpiece materials including steel. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments install this insert type.
This insert is suited for external grooving, parting, and profiling operations in production and job-shop turning applications. The FLR insert style and 4125 size code place it in a standardized Flo-Lock toolholder system, making it a direct fit for compatible Flo-Lock-style holders used in medium-duty turning on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The GP50 grade with C5/C6 material grade classification makes it appropriate for finishing to semi-finishing cuts on steel and similar secondary workpiece materials.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting the FLR-4125R insert style. Compatible with C5 and C6 material grade applications, with steel listed as the secondary workpiece material. Gage diameter is 0.375 inches (3/8 inch).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine is powered down, spindle rotation is stopped, and all axis motion has ceased per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully and squarely in the toolholder pocket and secure the clamping mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to prevent premature edge failure.
