The TOOL-FLO 594225RJ5A is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to FLR4125 style in the Flo-Lock series, it delivers a 0.25 inch cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.25 inches, making it suited for consistent, repeatable groove profiles. The insert features a TiN coating applied by PVD process, a micrograin carbide substrate under GP3 grade, and a positive rake geometry at 55 degrees. The full radius profile with a 0.125 inch corner radius produces clean, radiused groove floors. Right-hand orientation and a 3-degree lead angle define its operational setup.
This insert is intended for use in metal-cutting environments where tight tolerances and surface finish matter. It is well matched to workpieces in stainless steel and similarly demanding materials. The Flo-Lock series is designed for secure insert retention in compatible toolholders, reducing insert movement under interrupted cuts and high-feed conditions. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production turning operations, and maintenance machining applications are the typical end users. The ISO code FLR-4125R identifies its seating geometry for holder selection.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting FLR-4125 style inserts. ISO code FLR-4125R confirms holder compatibility. Verify toolholder specification against insert style and size code 4125 before installation.
Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures applied. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten the clamping screw. Confirm insert seating is flush and secure before resuming cutting operations. Handle carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use.
