The TOOL-FLO 594225LJ5A is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision groove cutting in metalworking and machining applications. Built to the FLR4125 insert style in manufacturer grade GP3, this left-hand insert features a 0.25-inch (6.35 mm) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.25 inches (6.35 mm). The micrograin solid carbide substrate is finished with a PVD-applied TiN coating for extended wear life and thermal resistance. A full radius geometry with a 0.125-inch corner radius and a positive 55-degree rake angle promote clean chip evacuation and reduce cutting forces. Machinists and toolroom technicians working on CNC lathes or turning centers are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for grooving operations in both general metalworking and stainless steel applications. The Flo-Lock series designation indicates compatibility with TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock toolholding systems. Left-hand orientation positions this insert for specific spindle direction and toolholder configurations. The effective depth-of-cut range runs from 0.20 to 0.30 inches (5.00 to 10.00 mm), making it appropriate for medium-depth grooving passes. Secondary workpiece material suitability includes stainless steel, in addition to general-purpose metals consistent with the GP3 grade.
Designed for use in TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock series toolholding systems. ISO code FLR-4125L identifies the correct toolholder seat and clamping configuration. Gage diameter is 0.375 inches.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and seating specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Verify left-hand orientation and insert pocket geometry match before engaging the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris that could affect seating accuracy prior to installation.
