The TOOL-FLO 594094RN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLR4094 insert style in the Flo-Lock series, it features a right-hand cutting orientation and a 4.80 mm (0.1890 inch) cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 6.35 mm (0.2500 inch). The insert is finished with a PVD-applied Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating and carries a GP50 manufacturer grade, making it suited for general-purpose turning of steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. Machinists and toolroom operators install this insert into compatible Flo-Lock grooving toolholders.
This insert is intended for grooving, parting, and profile turning applications in both production and job-shop environments. The full-radius geometry with a 0.0940 inch corner radius and a positive rake angle supports clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. It fits applications requiring a gage diameter of 0.3750 inch (3/8 inch) and is appropriate for workpiece materials in the C5 and C6 material grade ranges. The 3-degree lead angle and 55-degree rake angle suit a range of light-to-moderate grooving passes within the 5.00 mm to 10.00 mm maximum depth of cut range.
Designed for use with TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock series grooving toolholders that accept FLR4094-style inserts with a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) gage diameter seating.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures applied before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamping pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert. Verify correct insert orientation and hand before resuming cutting operations.
