The TOOL-FLO 593831RAC3R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the AC3 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating, delivering heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The insert features a right-hand orientation, a 0.062-inch cutting width, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.125 inches. A full-radius profile with a 0.031-inch corner radius and positive rake geometry reduce cutting forces and promote chip control. This insert belongs to TOOL-FLO's Flo-Lock series and is sized at 3031, fitting compatible Flo-Lock toolholders used by machinists in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for grooving operations in light to medium material grades, including C2 and C3 carbide-appropriate workpiece materials. The Flo-Lock series is commonly used in residential and commercial CNC turning applications where consistent groove width and depth repeatability are required. The 0.344-inch cutting height and 0.255-inch insert thickness provide stability at depth. With a maximum depth of cut range of 0.100 to 0.150 inches and a lead angle of 0 degrees, this insert is optimized for straight-wall groove profiles.
Designed for use with TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting FLRP-style inserts, insert size 3031. Manufacturers catalog reference: FLRP-3031R.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a de-energized, locked-out state before insert indexing or replacement. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the toolholder pocket before securing the clamping screw to the manufacturer torque specification for the toolholder. Inspect the insert seat and clamping mechanism for debris or wear prior to installation. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine manufacturer guidelines during setup.
