The TOOL-FLO 593831LN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the Flo-Lock series, this left-hand insert features a TiN coating applied via PVD process and carries a GP50 manufacturer grade with a C5/C6 material grade rating. It delivers a 1.57 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 3.18 mm, making it well suited for tight-tolerance groove profiles. A full radius geometry and positive rake angle of 55 degrees reduce cutting forces and improve chip flow in demanding turning applications. Machinists and CNC operators working in production environments install and index these inserts as part of regular tooling maintenance.
This insert is intended for grooving steel workpieces in production turning environments. The FLRP-3031L ISO code designates its style and size for use in compatible Flo-Lock toolholders. The positive rake and full radius geometry suit applications where surface finish and dimensional accuracy in the groove are critical. With a 3/8 inch gage diameter and an overall width of 0.1950 inches, the insert fits into tooling setups requiring compact, precisely dimensioned cutting edges. It is not a multi-use tool and is configured exclusively for left-hand grooving operations.
Designed for use in Flo-Lock series toolholders compatible with the FLRP-3031L ISO code designation. Verify toolholder specifications before installation to confirm proper insert seating and clamping.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before installing a new insert to ensure correct seating and prevent premature edge failure. Follow your facility safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines during all tooling changes.
