The TOOL-FLO 593094RAC3R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the FLR insert style in the Flo-Lock series, it features an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process, which provides elevated heat resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and hard-material cutting applications. The insert delivers a 0.189 inch cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 0.18 inches and a full-radius geometry with a 0.094 inch corner radius. It carries a neutral rake angle and is configured for right-hand cutting. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this insert in compatible Flo-Lock toolholders for grooving, parting, and profile turning work.
This insert is suited for use in production machining environments where consistent groove width and surface finish are required. The AC3 grade carbide with AlTiN finish makes it appropriate for cutting steel, stainless steel, and similar ferrous alloys at moderate-to-high cutting speeds. The full-radius tip eliminates sharp corner stress concentrations, making it well-suited for groove-bottom finishing passes. It is a single-use, non-reversible insert configured for right-hand tooling setups on conventional and CNC turning equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for Flo-Lock series grooving toolholders accepting FLR-style inserts at the 3094 insert size designation. Refer to the TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock toolholder selection guide to confirm seat and clamp compatibility before ordering.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping procedures. Always index or replace inserts with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as carbide fracture under cutting load is a safety hazard.
