The TOOL-FLO 593047RN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLR3047 geometry in manufacturer grade GP50, it features a PVD-applied TiN coating that extends tool life in steel and similar workpiece materials. The insert delivers a cutting width of 0.094 inches (2.39 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.18 inches (4.57 mm), making it well suited for consistent, repeatable groove profiles. It is part of the Flo-Lock series and is intended for right-hand operation. Machinists and tooling specialists working in job shops, production turning cells, and maintenance machining environments rely on this insert for controlled groove dimensions.
This insert is specified for grooving applications where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. Its positive rake angle of 55 degrees and full-radius geometry support smooth chip flow and reduced cutting forces. The GP50 carbide grade with C5/C6 material classification makes it appropriate for general-purpose turning of steel and secondary steel workpiece materials. It fits Flo-Lock series toolholders designed for the 3047 insert size with a 3/8-inch gage diameter, and is a single-use, non-multi-use insert replaced at end of life rather than indexed.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting the 3047 insert size and a 3/8-inch gage diameter. ISO designation FLR-3047R. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping style before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Ensure the insert pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and do not exceed the maximum depth of cut range for the holder. Inspect the insert edge condition before each run and replace at first sign of chipping or wear.
