The TOOL-FLO 593047PRAC3R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the FLR3047P insert style in grade AC3R, this right-hand insert features an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process, delivering improved heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting environments. The insert provides a 2.39 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 4.57 mm, making it well suited for medium-depth grooving passes. It belongs to the Flo-Lock series, which uses a clamp-style insert holding method for secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders.
This insert is intended for machining cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel, covering a broad range of production turning applications. It is typically used by CNC machinists and toolroom operators in job shops, production facilities, and precision machining environments. The P-style chip breaker aids in chip control during grooving operations, and the full-radius geometry with a 1.19 mm corner radius produces consistent groove profiles. It is suited for light to medium interrupted and continuous grooving cuts in both roughing and finishing passes within its rated depth range of 4.00 mm to 5.00 mm.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series clamp-style grooving toolholders accepting the FLR3047 insert size. Compatible primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping hardware for wear or debris prior to seating a new insert. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut or cutting width for this insert geometry.
