The TOOL-FLO 593047LN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLR3047 geometry in manufacturer grade GP50, this left-hand insert features a 2.39 mm (0.0941 inch) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 4.57 mm (0.1799 inch). The PVD-applied TiN coating enhances surface hardness and wear resistance for extended tool life. A positive rake angle of 55 degrees and full corner radius profile make this insert well suited for clean, consistent groove profiles in steel workpiece materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production turning environments are the primary users.
This insert is applied in grooving, recessing, and parting operations on turned components where precise groove geometry and controlled chip flow are required. The left-hand orientation suits specific toolholder configurations and spindle approaches in OD grooving applications. It is part of the Flo-Lock series, which is engineered for secure insert seating and repeatable indexing. Secondary workpiece material is steel, making this insert appropriate for high-volume turning of ferrous components in job shop and production environments. The ISO code FLR-3047L identifies the insert style and hand for toolholder selection.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting the FLR-3047L insert style. Verify toolholder hand orientation and insert pocket geometry before installation. No additional compatible model numbers were specified in the product data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine is powered down and spindle is fully stopped before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris that could prevent proper seating and affect dimensional accuracy.
