The TOOL-FLO 592031RJ5R is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Flo-Lock series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This right-hand insert carries a GP3 manufacturer grade with a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating applied over a micrograin carbide substrate. The cutting width measures 1.57 mm (0.0618 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm (0.1098 inches). The full-radius geometry and positive rake angle of 55 degrees support clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments rely on this insert for consistent performance across repetitive grooving cycles.
This insert is suited for grooving operations on lathes running ferrous and stainless steel workpieces. The FLR2031 insert style seats into compatible Flo-Lock toolholders. The 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) gage diameter, 0.2190 inch cutting height, and 0.1500 inch overall width match toolholder pockets spec'd for the 2031 insert size. The TiN coating and micrograin carbide substrate make this insert an appropriate choice when secondary workpiece material is stainless steel. It is a single-use, non-multi-use insert profile.
Designed to seat in Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting the FLR-2031 insert style (ISO code FLR-2031R). Verify toolholder pocket specifications against insert size 2031 dimensions before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping mechanism for wear or debris before seating the insert. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth-of-cut range for the insert grade and workpiece material combination. Dispose of worn inserts according to facility carbide-recycling procedures.
