The TOOL-FLO 573625LJ5R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving operations on steel workpieces. Part of the Flo-Lock series, this left-hand insert carries a TiN coating applied via PVD process, providing surface hardness and wear resistance suited for production turning environments. It holds a cutting width of 0.1252 inches (3.18 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.1799 inches (4.57 mm). The micrograin carbide substrate and GP3 grade designation make it appropriate for medium to finishing passes on steel. Machinists and CNC lathe operators working with grooving toolholders in the Flo-Lock system are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is intended for external or internal grooving applications on steel in CNC turning or manual lathe setups. The left-hand orientation determines feed direction and toolholder compatibility. With a 3/8 inch gage diameter and a cutting height of 0.3440 inches, it fits toolholder pockets designed around the FLGP-3125L ISO code. The positive rake angle of 55 degrees and a 3-degree lead angle promote free cutting action, reducing cutting forces during grooving passes. The insert does not feature a full radius, and the corner radius falls in the range of 0.0050 to 0.0100 inches, suited for grooves requiring controlled edge geometry rather than a blended radius profile.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series grooving toolholders accepting the FLGP-3125L ISO insert designation. Intended for left-hand grooving applications on steel workpieces. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert size code 3125 compatibility before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert clamp - do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper clamping and repeatable depth of cut.
