The TOOL-FLO 573494LN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Flo-Lock series, designed for precision external grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a TiN coating applied by PVD process, which improves surface hardness and wear resistance during continuous or interrupted cuts. The insert has a left-hand orientation with a 2.39 mm (0.094 inch) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 4.57 mm (0.1799 inch). It is sized to a 3/8-inch gage diameter and features a positive rake angle of 55 degrees. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct-fit component in compatible Flo-Lock toolholders for grooving applications requiring tight tolerances.
This insert is intended for use in metalworking environments where steel and similar secondary workpiece materials are being machined. It fits standard Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting the FLGP-3094L ISO code designation. Typical applications include O-ring grooves, snap-ring grooves, and other precision groove profiles on turned components in job shop, production, and maintenance machining settings. The GP50 grade with C5-C6 material classification makes it suitable for general-purpose steel cutting at moderate to aggressive cutting parameters.
Designed for use in Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting the FLGP-3094L ISO code designation. Compatible with workpiece materials including steel per supplier attribute data. This insert is not a multi-use tool and is intended for dedicated grooving operations in its specified holder style.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop, de-energized state and all axes locked out before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert clamp per the toolholder manufacturer specifications to secure the insert without over-tightening. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating the insert. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable ANSI machining standards when setting tool offsets after insert change.
