The TOOL-FLO 572431RN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLGP2031 insert style in the GP50 manufacturer grade, it features a TiN coating applied via PVD process for improved wear resistance and surface finish on steel workpieces. The insert delivers a cutting width of 0.031 inches (0.79 mm) with a maximum depth of cut of 0.050 inches (1.27 mm). The right-hand orientation and positive rake geometry make it well suited for light to medium grooving passes where edge sharpness and dimensional accuracy are the priority.
This insert is intended for use in Flo-Lock series toolholders and is configured for right-hand cutting operations on turning equipment. It is primarily applied to steel workpieces and fits grooving applications in production machining environments. The C5/C6 material grade classification covers a range of general-purpose steel turning applications. Machinists and toolroom technicians working on OD grooving, snap-ring groove cutting, or face grooving operations will find the geometry and coating combination appropriate for controlled-depth, repeatable cuts.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series grooving toolholders accepting FLGP-2031R style inserts. ISO code FLGP-2031R applies. Compatible secondary workpiece material is steel per manufacturer specification.
Installation of grooving inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state before insert exchange. Seat the insert firmly in the Flo-Lock pocket and torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specification - do not over-tighten carbide inserts. Verify insert orientation (right-hand) matches the programmed tool path before resuming operation. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or debris prior to installation to prevent insert rocking or premature edge failure.
