The TOOL-FLO 564825RN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLG4125 insert style in manufacturer grade GP50, it features a PVD-applied TiN coating for improved wear resistance and edge life. The right-hand cutting orientation and 1/8-inch (3.18 mm) cutting width make it suited to tight-tolerance groove work. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.2500 inches (6.35 mm), giving machinists reliable reach for standard groove depths. This insert is installed and indexed by qualified CNC machinists and toolroom professionals working in production or job-shop environments.
The 564825RN4C is used in turning applications where consistent groove width, clean side walls, and controlled depth are required. Its positive rake geometry (55-degree rake angle with a 3-degree lead angle) reduces cutting forces and suits steel workpieces as the primary application. The Flo-Lock series interface ensures positive seating and repeatable insert positioning in compatible TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock grooving toolholders. Typical install scenarios include OD grooving on bar stock, shaft undercuts, and snap-ring groove machining in production runs.
Designed for use with TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock series grooving toolholders accepting FLG-style inserts with a 4125 insert size code and 3/8-inch (0.3750-inch) gage diameter. Verify toolholder pocket style and insert size code before ordering.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop, locked-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the manufacturer-recommended torque wrench and clamp screw when seating the insert to avoid micro-cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specification to prevent insert fracture or toolholder damage.
