The TOOL-FLO 563825RN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and turning operations. It features a TiN (titanium nitride) coating applied via PVD process, which improves surface hardness and wear resistance. The insert carries a GP50 manufacturer grade with C5/C6 material grade classification and is configured for right-hand cutting. With a cutting width of 0.1252 inches (3.18 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.1799 inches (4.57 mm), it is suited for controlled, repeatable groove profiles in production and maintenance machining environments. Machinists and tooling specialists in metalworking shops are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert belongs to the Flo-Lock series under the FLG insert style designation, ISO code FLG-3125R. It is designed for use on CNC lathes and turning centers performing external grooving operations. The insert is particularly noted for compatibility with stainless steel as a secondary workpiece material, making it applicable in industries where corrosion-resistant alloys are commonly machined. A positive rake angle of 55 degrees and a 3-degree lead angle support reduced cutting forces during grooving passes.
Designed for use in Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting FLG-style inserts with insert size code 3125 and a 3/8-inch (0.3750 inch) gage diameter. Compatible with machining of stainless steel as a secondary workpiece material per manufacturer specifications.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping guidelines for Flo-Lock series holders. Always index or replace the insert with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for chips or damage before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut or feed parameters for this grade and coating.
