The TOOL-FLO 563825RAC3R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the Flo-Lock series, this double-ended insert features an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating applied via PVD process, delivering hard-surface wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert measures 0.375 inches in size with a 0.125-inch cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.18 inches. A neutral rake angle and right-hand cutting orientation make it straightforward to integrate into standard toolholding setups. Material grade is C2/C3, suited for demanding grooving work on a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for use on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel workpieces, making it a versatile choice across job shop and production turning environments. The FLG insert style with ISO code FLG-3125R is compatible with Flo-Lock clamp-style toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators working on tight-tolerance grooves, undercuts, or recess profiles will find the defined 0.005 to 0.010 inch corner radius range useful for controlled edge geometry. The lead angle of 3 degrees supports chip flow in interrupted and continuous cuts alike.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series clamp-style toolholders accepting FLG-style inserts with ISO code FLG-3125R. Intended for right-hand turning applications on cast iron, non-ferrous metal, and stainless steel workpieces.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts in the toolholder. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver to secure the clamp to the manufacturer-specified feel - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert body. Verify insert orientation and hand designation before first cut to confirm right-hand setup is correct for the programmed toolpath.
