The TOOL-FLO 563825LN4C is a left-hand grooving insert from the Flo-Lock series, designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiN coating, this insert delivers consistent cutting performance in demanding turning applications. The GP50 manufacturer grade targets general-purpose and interrupted cutting in steel and stainless steel. Key cutting geometry includes a 0.1252-inch (3.18 mm) cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 0.1799 inches (4.57 mm), and a positive rake angle of 55 degrees for reduced cutting forces and cleaner chip evacuation.
This insert is suited for production turning environments where grooving accuracy and tool life are critical. The FLG insert style and 3125 size code place it in applications involving workpiece diameters near 0.375 inches gage diameter. Stainless steel is a rated secondary workpiece material, making this insert a practical choice for shops running both carbon steel and stainless components on the same tooling setup. It is typically installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in precision machining facilities.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting the FLG-3125L insert style. Compatible workpiece materials include steel and stainless steel. Material grades C5 and C6 apply. Verify toolholder insert pocket and clamping style before installation.
Installation of grooving inserts should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine powered off and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and confirm the clamping screw torque is appropriate for the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the insert seating surface and pocket for chips or debris before mounting. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut during operation.
