The TOOL-FLO 563825LJ5R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLG3125 insert style in grade GP3, it features a PVD-applied TiN coating over a micrograin carbide substrate, delivering edge sharpness and wear resistance suited for ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The cutting width measures 0.1252 inches (3.18 mm) with a maximum depth of cut reaching 0.1799 inches (4.57 mm). The left-hand orientation and positive rake geometry make this insert a direct-fit component for Flo-Lock toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments install this insert as part of a qualified, repeatable grooving setup.
This insert is intended for use in the TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock grooving system, specifically in left-hand toolholder configurations. It suits applications where narrow-width grooving, undercut machining, or parting operations require consistent depth control and a stable cutting edge. The GP3 grade and PVD TiN finish make it applicable across a range of workpiece materials in medium to high-volume turning operations. The 3/8 inch gage diameter and ISO code FLG-3125L confirm fitment within the Flo-Lock insert pocket family.
Designed for use with TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock series left-hand grooving toolholders accepting the FLG-3125L insert pocket (ISO code FLG-3125L, gage diameter 3/8 inch).
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be stopped and the turret fully de-energized before changing inserts. Use the manufacturer-recommended torx or hex key to seat the insert securely in the Flo-Lock pocket, ensuring the insert is fully seated against the pocket locating surfaces before resuming operation. Do not use worn or damaged toolholders, as improper seating can cause insert fracture or dimensional error in the finished groove.
