The TOOL-FLO 563805LJ5R is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Flo-Lock series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from micrograin solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiN coating, this left-hand insert delivers consistent edge performance in demanding production environments. It carries the GP3 manufacturer grade and features a positive rake geometry with a rake angle of 55 degrees. A 3-degree lead angle and controlled corner radius contribute to clean groove geometry and extended tool life. Machinists and tooling engineers working in high-volume turning applications will find this insert well suited to repeatable, tight-tolerance grooving work.
This insert is intended for grooving applications on metalcutting lathes and turning centers where left-hand cutting direction is required. The Flo-Lock series is commonly used in production environments machining steel, alloy steel, and similar ferrous workpiece materials. The insert style is FLG with an insert size code of 3105, and the ISO code is FLG-3105L. It is suited for both external and internal grooving setups depending on the compatible toolholder configuration.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series toolholders that accept FLG-style grooving inserts with an insert size code of 3105. Verify toolholder specifications against the ISO code FLG-3105L before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state before any insert change. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating to avoid micro-fracture of the carbide. Follow all applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines during changeover.
