The TOOL-FLO 563688RN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a GP50 manufacturer grade with a TiN (Titanium Nitride) PVD coating for improved surface hardness and wear resistance. The insert features a right-hand cutting orientation, a 2.24 mm (0.0882 inch) cutting width, and a maximum depth of cut of 4.57 mm (0.1799 inch). Part of the Flo-Lock series, this insert is engineered for controlled, repeatable grooving with a positive rake angle of 55 degrees and a lead angle of 3 degrees. It is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for grooving and turning applications on ferrous metals, with stainless steel listed as a secondary workpiece material. The GP50 grade with C5 and C6 material ratings makes it appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing cuts where surface integrity and dimensional accuracy are required. The Flo-Lock series is designed for secure insert seating in compatible toolholders, reducing insert movement during interrupted or continuous grooving passes. The FLG-3088R ISO code identifies the insert geometry for toolholder selection and replacement sourcing.
This insert uses ISO code FLG-3088R and is compatible with Flo-Lock series toolholders designed for the FLG insert style with a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) gage diameter. Verify toolholder compatibility against the FLG-3088R designation before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified for the Flo-Lock toolholder to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamp screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and dimensional accuracy.
