The TOOL-FLO 563672RAC3R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a PVD-applied AlTiN coating and an AC3 manufacturer grade, providing heat resistance and wear life across demanding cutting conditions. The insert features a right-hand orientation, a 1.83 mm cutting width, and a maximum depth of cut of 3.05 mm. It belongs to the Flo-Lock series and is held in place by a clamp-style toolholder. Machinists and tool-room technicians working in production turning environments install this insert as a direct replacement or stocked consumable.
This insert is suited for grooving cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel. The AlTiN coating handles the elevated temperatures generated when cutting stainless and hard cast iron, while the sharp edge geometry maintains dimensional accuracy in tight-tolerance groove profiles. It is appropriate for both high-volume production runs and job-shop turning work where consistent groove width and depth control are required. The clamp holding method ensures repeatable seating in compatible Flo-Lock toolholders.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series clamp-style grooving toolholders accepting FLG-3072 style inserts with an ISO code of FLG-3072R. Consult your toolholder documentation to confirm insert pocket compatibility before installation.
Insert replacement and seating should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a full stop, spindle off, and all axes locked. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to engage the clamp without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure. Follow your facility safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines when changing cutting inserts.
