The TOOL-FLO 563662PLAC3R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and cutoff operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Finished with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating applied via PVD process, this insert delivers improved heat resistance and wear performance compared to uncoated grades. It carries the AC3 manufacturer grade and features a 0.0618-inch cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 0.12 inches. The double-end design extends usable tool life. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments where consistent groove geometry and surface finish are required.
The 563662PLAC3R is suited for grooving cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel. It belongs to the TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock series and uses a clamp-style insert holding method, making it compatible with Flo-Lock style toolholders. The left-hand configuration is appropriate for specific spindle rotation and approach direction requirements. With a neutral rake angle and a corner radius range of 0.005 to 0.010 inches, this insert is well matched to applications demanding tight dimensional tolerances on groove profiles in medium to high production runs.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series clamp-style grooving toolholders. ISO code FLG-3062L-CB. Compatible with left-hand insert seats in holders designed for the FLG insert style at the 0.375-inch gage diameter. Suitable for workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel. Material grades C2 and C3 apply.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate Flo-Lock clamping hardware to secure the insert; do not substitute incompatible clamp bodies. Verify insert orientation for left-hand cutting direction before engaging the workpiece. Inspect the insert seat for chips or contamination before each insert change to maintain accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
