The TOOL-FLO 563662LJ5R is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Flo-Lock series, designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a GP3 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiN coating over a micrograin carbide substrate, delivering consistent edge life in a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The left-hand orientation suits right-to-left cutting approaches. Cutting width is 1.57 mm and maximum depth of cut is 3.05 mm, making it appropriate for narrow-groove and finish-grooving applications where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. Installation is handled by machinists and CNC operators working with compatible Flo-Lock toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning operations on production and job-shop lathes where controlled groove width and depth repeatability are required. The FLG insert style with a 3062 size code and positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces, which benefits operations on thinner-walled workpieces or materials prone to chatter. The 3/8-inch gage diameter and overall width of 0.1950 inches fit the corresponding Flo-Lock holder pocket geometry. The insert is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per purchase.
Designed for use with TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting the FLG-3062L ISO code insert in a left-hand configuration with a 3/8-inch gage diameter pocket.
This insert is installed and indexed by machinists or CNC setup technicians following the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping procedures for Flo-Lock pocket holders. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for debris or damage before installation. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specification for the insert size, as overloading can cause insert fracture.
