The TOOL-FLO 563647RAC3R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Carrying the AC3 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating, this insert delivers thermal resistance and wear performance suited to demanding cutting environments. The right-hand orientation and Flo-Lock series geometry provide secure seating in compatible toolholders. Cutting width is 0.047 inches with a maximum depth of cut of 0.075 inches, making it appropriate for narrow, controlled groove profiles. This insert is installed and changed by machinists and tool-crib technicians as part of routine tooling maintenance on production turning equipment.
This insert is applied to grooving and parting operations on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel workpieces. It is suited to both roughing and finishing groove passes where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are required. The double-end configuration extends usable tool life by providing two cutting edges per insert. The neutral rake geometry and 0-degree lead angle support consistent chip formation across the listed workpiece materials in a production or job-shop turning environment.
Designed for use in Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting insert seat size 3 and ISO code FLG-3047R. Compatible workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metal, and stainless steel. Refer to TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock toolholder documentation to confirm holder compatibility before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and all axes locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert-clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not substitute hardware. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Follow the machine tool builder and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for clamping force and insert retention to prevent insert movement during cutting.
