The TOOL-FLO 563647PLAC50C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the FLG-3047L-CB specification within the Flo-Lock series, this insert features a 0.047-inch cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.075 inches. The AC50 grade with an AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when machining steel workpieces. The CB chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation in interrupted and continuous cuts. This insert is installed and changed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments.
The 563647PLAC50C is suited for steel grooving applications in both production and maintenance machining environments. The left-hand orientation targets specific toolholder setups where approach direction or machine configuration requires it. The neutral rake geometry and clamp-style insert holding method make it compatible with standard Flo-Lock toolholders used on conventional and CNC turning equipment. The double-end configuration allows the insert to be indexed for extended use before replacement. Insert seat size 3 and the 3047 size code define the toolholder pocket requirements for correct seating.
Designed for use with Flo-Lock series toolholders accepting insert seat size 3 and the 3047 insert size. ISO code reference is FLG-3047L-CB. Material grades C5 and C6 are applicable. Primary workpiece material is steel. Verify toolholder hand and pocket dimensions before installation.
This insert is installed by machinists or toolroom technicians on CNC or manual turning equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the clamp and insert pocket are clean and free of chips or debris before seating to prevent improper contact and premature edge failure. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut for the insert size and toolholder combination in use.
