The TOOL-FLO 563631PRN4C is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Classified under the Flo-Lock series with an ISO code of FLG3031R-CB, this right-hand insert features a TiN coating applied via PVD process, improving surface hardness and wear resistance for extended tool life. The cutting width measures 0.0311 inches (0.79 mm), with a maximum depth of cut of 0.05 inches. A CB chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during grooving cuts. Machinists and CNC operators in precision machining, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments install and use this insert type.
This insert is suited for grooving operations on stainless steel workpieces as noted in the product attributes, along with general-purpose turning applications where the GP50 grade carbide provides a reliable balance of toughness and wear resistance. The Flo-Lock series seating design ensures secure, repeatable insert positioning. With a cutting height of 0.344 inches, an overall width of 0.195 inches, and a gage diameter of 0.375 inches, this insert is sized for compact grooving toolholders in both production and job-shop turning environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement grooving insert compatible with Flo-Lock series grooving toolholders accepting FLG3031CB style inserts. Secondary workpiece material compatibility includes stainless steel as specified in product attributes.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be stopped and all motion arrested before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert clamp to the correct seating torque per the holder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure full, flat contact.
