The TOOL-FLO 563631PRAC3R is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to AC3 grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating, this insert delivers high wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted cuts and high-speed passes. It features a 0.031 inch cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 0.05 inches, and a neutral rake angle. The Flo-Lock series clamp-style holding method ensures rigid, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production turning environments will find this insert well-suited to demanding grooving applications.
This insert is intended for use on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials including cast iron, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals. The double-end configuration extends usable insert life in high-volume production runs. The FLG style geometry and CB chip breaker designation make it appropriate for grooving operations requiring controlled chip evacuation and consistent groove geometry. It is sized at 0.375 inches gage diameter and carries an ISO code of FLG3031R-CB, also referenced in the manufacturer catalog as FLG-3031R-CB.
Designed for use in TOOL-FLO Flo-Lock series toolholders that accept FLG-style grooving inserts with a 0.375 inch gage diameter. Compatible workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and stainless steel per manufacturer attribute data.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Flo-Lock clamp and torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely before any cutting operation. Inspect seating surfaces for chips or debris before clamping to avoid insert rocking or premature breakage. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 0.05 inches per pass.
